Letter: Grenada's NDC politicians forget that pro abortionists don't represent Christian values

Dear Sir:

Caribbean politicians like to take citizens who support them for granted, and they always feel that they are wiser than the general population, while they continue to make themselves look stupid by acting as if they are smart.

For example, the Members of Parliament within this present Grenada NDC government are not practising what they preached. When they were opposition campaigning in the last general election, they gained voters confidence by promoting Christian moral values. And when they were elected as the new government, they promised the people that the government will based some of its values on Christian morals, but it seems as though they forget what Christian moral values and principles stand for, as they about to hold the party convention in the next few days.

So the big question is: Why they are inviting former St Lucian prime minister, who is a pro abortionist as their guest speaker, when they are supposed to protect and respect Christian values?

Basically, I am not a churchgoing person and I don’t practice any form of religious worship, but it appears as though the NDC politicians are playing games with Grenadians who have this strong religious culture that is based on Christianity, while some of these politicians are well know atheists. However, these are the same politicians who claim to be anti gambling based on biblical principles in order to gain political mileage. Yet, they are the same ones who are trying to cover up the abortion issue as a subject of non-biblical moral values, due to the fact that they are aware of Dr Anthony’s political stand on abortion that is not in line with Christian values.

These educated NDC politicians are so book smart and lacking commonsense, they think that Dr Kenny Anthony, who is a pro abortionist, will come to Grenada and be this big time Caribbean politician and Grenadians will look up to him as a role model , when he addresses their party convention. They expect him to throw his political support behind the NDC party to make them look good, without Grenadians knowing that his moral and political values are anti biblical Christian values.

While the NDC government are inviting Dr Anthony to speak at the convention, unemployment is very high. The company Zublin that has been building new business infrastructures in St George’s has recently pulled out of Grenada, because the government refused to give them a casino license to operate legal gambling. And what makes the whole thing more confusing, Dr Kenny Anthony is not anti gambling.

So it seems as though there is something in Caribbean politics that is more important that Christian moral values that is hidden from the Grenadian population. Therefore, it appears as though the Grenadian government despise casino gambling, but are very tolerant to a politician who is pro abortion. It is very important that the NDC politicians explain why they are against gambling but willing to show so much great respect for a politician who believes in population control through the method of legal abortion.

Additionally, it is very interesting to see if a large turn out of NDC women of Christian values will attend the convention, because if they are dedicated Christians as they claim, and women who respect motherhood and biblical teachings, they won’t attend a political convention to listen to a male politician who legalised abortion in his home country of St Lucia, when he was the prime minister.

Basically, I know some strong NDC supporters will be vexed with me for exposing their hypocrisy and trickery, but it is very important for those of us who are aware of what is going on, to speak out before it is too late, because Grenada is being governed by a few men and women who are not telling the masses of Grenadian people what is their main political agenda as elected Members of Parliament to serve the country. However, it is blatant to see that they continue to mislead their followers into a political situation that is uncertain, and can lead to regrets.

In conclusion, there is a lot more to be said about the NDC Convention and Dr Kenny Anthony as the guest speaker, but sometimes it is very wise to observe a little more and let things unfold. For those of us who are well informed about Caribbean politics, it is no hidden secret that Kenny Anthony was a very liberal prime minister in terms of his support to casino gambling and the exotic dancing industry in St Lucia, while in Grenada, this present NDC government is opposed to these sorts of economic activities.

So what is the NDC’s main purpose of inviting Dr Anthony to be a guest speaker at their party convention? Who is it they’re trying to fool? They forget that pro abortionists don’t represent Christian values.
