01/25/2013  Mirena Lawsuit Update and Information:  The Mirena IUD Lawsuit continues  to move forward. Efforts to consolidate the Mirena Lawsuit in 2012 into a Mirena Class Action Lawsuit or Mirena Lawsuit Multidistrtict Litigation ran into some obstacles. Regardless of whether a Mirena Class Acton Lawsuit or  any other  type of mass action lawsuit is formed, women who were injured by mirena side effects may still file individual Mirena Lawsuits.

Mirena IUD Birth Control Lawsuit Cause

The Mirena IUD was created as a long term birth control option which is surgically implanted and was suppose to be effective for five years.   The Mirena IUD functioned in the same manner as many IUDs by blocking semen from pasting the cervix. The Mirena IUD also contains a slow release birth control chemical in addition to the mechanical function it performs in preventing births.

Unfortunately, significant problems and complications have been linked to the Mirena IUD which have been linked to severe injury  in many women.  The device is prone to becoming dislodged and migrating to other organs in the female reproductive system. Some of these injures have resulted in abnormal pregnancies which often require the termination of the fetus if  spontaneous miscarriage does not occur. The surgery to extract a Mirena IUD that has migrated can often leave a woman unable to give birth permanently.

Who can file a Mirena IUD Lawsuit

Mirena IUD Lawsuits can potentially be filed by any woman who used the Mirena IUD an experienced an injury as the result of that use. If a family member died as a result of complications from a Mirena IUD, an immediate family member may be eligible to file a Mirena IUD lawsuit as a result of the death of their loved one.

The Mirena IUD Lawsuit has many similarities to another birth control device lawsuit currently underway. The ongoing Nuvaring Lawsuit has much in common with the Mirena Lawsuit. Although the two birth control lawsuits are not identical, there are significant similarities.
