A recent study claimed that male circumcision among sexual partners that were HIV-negative helps avoid the transmission of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
Still, the researchers said that circumcision provides only limited defense and both partners must still do the safe sexual intercourse. HPV is a sexually transmitted infection that puts women at risk of developing cervical cancer.
According to earlier study, it revealed that male circumcision lessened the danger of HPV infection in men. However, in this recent study, researchers studied information from two clinical tests in Uganda that tracked men who were HIV-negative and their female partners who were also negative in HIV between 2003 and 2006.
In addition, the researchers found out that the rate of new high-jeopardy for HPV infection was 23 percent lower for women whose partners were circumcised, compared with those who were not circumcised.
Dr. Maria Wawer and Dr. Aaron Tobian of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore concluded that along with earlier test findings in men, these results showed that circumcision must now be acknowledged as an effective interference for lessening the heterosexually acquired low-risk and high-risk of HPV infections in men who were negative in HIV virus and along with their counterpart partners.

Dr. Anna R. Giuliano of H.Lee Moffitt Cancer Center at Tampa, Florida and her co-workers stated in an accompanying commentary that the recent results add essential proof for the endorsement of male circumcision in every country without entrenched programs for screening cervical cancer.
Further involvements to lessen HPV infection like prerequisite of vaccines for the prevention of HPV infection will be vital to lessen invasive cervical cancer all over the world. Circumcision in male is linked with slight decreases in high risks of HPV infection.
